What interests would you like to share with friends and members of OTI?
I am finishing a new book called The Curse of the Capable:The Hidden Challenges to a Balanced, High Achieving Life. I have worked with many talented individuals who have great difficulty living a healthy life in a comprehensive way. They excel at work or at being a mother or friend but they are accustomed to masking their vulnerabilities through their capablilities. I have developed group programse to address this very issue over the last 30 years.
Can you share a brief bio?
I have headed psycholgy and alternative departments for several years, have been a director of group therapy programs and have been on the faculty of Harvard Medical School for several years. My last three books were Treatment of Abuse and Addiction:A Holistic Approach, The Power of Empathy and my last book was Performance Addiction. I also co-authored Beyond The Influence:Understanding and Defeating Alcoholism.

I am mainly going because HH Dalai Lama is speaking both days, and I've been studying Tibetan Buddhism for several years. I don't particularly agree with the Judith Herman/Van der Kolk crowd, I'm more a Rich McNally fan, but I find Davidson's work fascinating. So I expect it to be a mixed experience so to speak. I am going to try to twitter while there

Thank you. I see we have some things in common --I am also addiction specialist. (see chapter from handbook of women's addictions, you can find it on my lab's web site, www.eparg.org) for overview of my thinking re addiction --actually you can see that in other articles. are you still at harvard Med school?
