Online Therapy Institute Social Network

Social Network for Members and Friends of OTI!

I just joined this social network today and it's like diving into Alice In Wonderland's rabbit hole! Love it. It's a magical place!

I received my DCC in June of this year and have been percolating on how to put it to best use. After reading this thread, I'm happy to say that my growing inclinations are largely reinforced by what I've read here. I looked into some of the e-therapy sites and wasn't comfortable with being jointly presented to the public with astrologers, psychics and the like.

I have opted to design my own website with considerable professional help as I'm not (as DeeAnna self-described herself) a 'computer geek'. I'm fascinated by it all but don't have the patience or inclination to sit down and apply myself to learning all the ins and outs. For me, it made sense to hire this out. I'm currently developing a blog, which I'm sure many of you already have, simply because I like to write. I write a weekly and a monthly newsletter to subscribers and am currently adding an archive of my newsletters to my site as well. My writing seems to draw clients to me.

I am working on my action plan for incorporating an online services page to my site and think I'm almost ready to move this up on my priority list. You all have motivated me. Being in private practice can be isolating and being a self starter is critical. It's so much easier to do with support.

My goal is to keep all this as simple as possible so that I can continue to live what I promote in my practice: living mindfully with intention, focus and clarity. It's simple but it ain't easy to do!

Thank you all so much for being 'out here'!

Sending warm good energy to you all!

In the fall of 1991 I was an undergraduate student at Georgia State University. I was a student in the health sciences department and I majored in Mental Health and Human Services.  To be sure all students received hands-on experience, we were required to complete 3 practicums.  And so, approaching time to register for my [...]

Is Online Therapy Finally Considered a Viable Option?

I was recently interviewed by the Stars and Stripes regarding online counseling and the article entitled Tricare Programs Offer Online Counseling posted last week.  Some of you may know that Tricare is offering online services now with a pilot program called TRIAP in which military and their family members can obtain assistance online via [...]

Internet Safety for your Teen

I recently was introduced to an awesome website that I thought I would share with everyone.  The name of the site is the Kristin Helms Internet Safety Foundation and the website is http://www.kristinhelmsfoundation.org/. It is through tragedy that we are privy to such a wonderful collection of tips and information. Kristin met a sexual predator online [...]

How Long is Too Long in the Front Lines?

I recently had a conversation with a colleague who said she just couldn’t find her “calling.” She is a counselor and she knows she was led to help people but she feels she is called to deeply fulfill her vocation- she just doesn’t know what or how. She told me about her jobs [...]
