These past couple of weeks have been very busy! Kate Anthony and Stephen Goss presented in Amsterdam at the
E-Mental Health Summit on the ethics of online therapy. They discussed the BACP ethical guidelines for online counselling and supervision as well as OTI's
Ethical Framework for the use of Technology in Mental Health. Kate and I also presented a
poster session entitled
Ethical Implications for Therapists Who Work and Socialize in Cyberspace.
During the same week as the E-Mental Health Summit I presented at the International Therapist Leadership Institute's
Practice Building Conference on the topic of Online Therapy. This was a virtual teleseminar that offered the opportunity for me to speak for an hour about a few of the talking points of online therapy.
Monday I traveled to Dallas to present a day-long pre-conference training on Tuesday at the EAPA World Conference. The training was titled the same as the poster session we presented in Amsterdam but we were able to review many more ethical scenarios in the day-long workshop. It was a great opportunity to network and meet people I already knew virtually. Marina London, webmaster for EAPA and blogger at
IWebU has created an
EAPA Conference Blog and that conference is still in progress. I was also able to share a quick cup of coffee with Mark Goldenson of
Breakthrough.com.
Truly, it has been a bit of a whirlwind~ sharing, gathering, teaching, learning!
We used Twitter hashtags for the E-Mental Health Summit (#ESummit) and the Practice Building Conference (#PBC2009). The full tweets for each can be found here:
