This is to announce that this symposium (above) has now been published and is available online. It grew out of a special event organised by Derek Richards and his colleagues at Trinity College Dublin funded by the European Science Foundation that brought together a range of leading experts working at the cutting edge of the field. The event itself has had a lasting impact and included papers on a wide range of technologies and this special edition of the British Journal of Guidance and Counselling allows readers to access this work. It provides a sampling from developments in the field by practitioners, trainers, researchers and developers working directly with the topics described and offers insights into what can be acheived, the research and development processes involved and the use of the technologies described.
