DeeAnna Merz Nagel of OTI was interviewed in an article about a new online counseling service for US military services personnel in Stars and Stripes, which describes itself as 'the independent news source for the US military community'.
DeeAnna makes some sensible recommendations, like accessing services from the security and privacy of home, and is quoted several times. OTI itself is cited too.
While the organisers of the new service, known as TRIAP (Tricare Assistance Program), seem to have a pretty modest view of what the service can do (mentioning 'low level counseling' and that it is a referral point to other services that may not extend beyond its trial period), this is part of increasing accessibility of mental health support services for those in the military and obviously has potential to enable them to make an approach more privately and so with less to fear from the possible stigma associated with mental health conditions - a thing the article makes clear that senior army sources have stated should be tackled.
DeeAnna's role in the article is clearly that of the expert commentator, demonstrating OTI's potential as the leading source of informed comment, advice and consultancy regarding online counselling. That they are cited in Stars and Stripes is a great compliment, excellent exposure and shows how widely OTI is now recognised.
Good for you DeeAnna!
